The path begins at the Basilica of St. Nicholas of Bari, a symbolic place of pilgrimage in Puglia, and traverses the ancient territory of Peucezia: from the lush olive forest that characterizes the coastal plain, to the steppe-like expanses of the Murgia plateau, from the patches of woodland to the karst incisions (lame and gravine) that make up the enchanting rocky scenery in which Gravina in Puglia and Matera rise.

166 km in 7 STAGES along which we discover the very rich Apulian and Lucanian cultural heritage consisting of cathedrals and medieval villages such as Bitetto, Cassano delle Murge, Santeramo in Colle and Altamura; a staging point is also the Sanctuary of Picciano.

As the sun sets, you are greeted by farms with authentic traditional flavors. And finally, the arrival in Matera, where the world’s most famous Sassi suddenly appear, suspended between heaven and earth.
