Cammino dei Tre Villaggi
The Cammino dei Tre Villaggi is a loop circuit that winds for twenty kilometers in the Tuscia Viterbo area.
Departure from Villa San Giovanni, first STAGE in Barbarano Romano, then Blera, and return to Villa. It is a hymn to slow walking, resilience, territory, and good practices. Pilgrims receive a map with all the relevant information and return with a certificate of “Etruscan Wayfarer.” In a single day, one will see Etruscan cuts, ancient settlements, ravines. One will cross rivers. One will visit two museums and a herbarium. One will come into direct contact with people who live the path year-round.

HISTORY
The walk was born as a one-time, annual-scale experience. It is run by a cultural association that takes care of reception, organization, credentials, everything. Over the years, the association decided to transform the Camino into an “open” route, open year-round. The operation has been remarkably successful, and by now the Cammino dei Tre Villaggi is a nationwide example of “good practice” in respecting the land around it. Finally, the fact that it has earned the title of “Italy’s smallest walk” has greatly helped its growth.
WATER SOURCES.
Crossing three villages in 20 km, water supply is not a problem. It is clearly recommended to set off armed with a water bottle (1-2 liters per person, depending on the season), which, however, will be easy to refill at each stop.
SERVICES PRESENT STAGE BY STAGE
There are supermarkets, pharmacies, bars, restaurants, and picnic areas along every single STAGE
SIGNAGE

This is the running order

DANGERS
Both the first and second STAGE revolve around the river. So the main problems are related to mud, puddles, some trees that may fall to the ground. Nothing more. Clearly the route is not recommended (but not impossible) when it has rained heavily.
ACCESSIBILITY
Due to its geographical nature, unfortunately, the Cammino dei Tre Villaggi is not walkable by people with severe disabilities.

CREDENTIALS
The walk is an open and free path. However, if one wants to learn about the Three Villages as it is designed and for the deeper meaning it has, the cost is 5 euros per person to be paid to the association (after emailing for an appointment). Pilgrims will receive map and stamp points, and at the end of the trail they will also be given a certificate of “Etruscan Wayfarer.”
TENT WALK
A tent spot is provided halfway along the route, although then the CAMMINO DEI TRE VILLAGGI lasts only one day. The space must be arranged in advance and reserved through the association.
STAGE 01
STAGE 01: Villa San Giovanni – Barbarano Romano
Length: 9.2 km
Height difference: 256m
Estimated time: 3.00 h
Maximum altitude: 417m
Difficulty: Medium
The longest but not the most challenging STAGE of the three. You leave Villa and slowly enter the green space. At first in an area devoted to agriculture, and then more and more towards the forest. Inside the Marturanum Regional Park. Among Etruscan tombs and cuttings. The last refreshment the Pisciarello fountain, before the ascent to Barbarano Romano.
STAGE 02
STAGE 02: Barbarano Romano – Blera
Length: 5.4 km
Positive elevation gain: 41m
Estimated time: 2.00h
Maximum elevation: 341m
Difficulty: Expert
The most “wild,” all-nature STAGE. From Barbarano you descend to the valley, with your feet along the course of the Biedano River. You will not leave it until the arrival, between water crossings, ravines and especially molehills. Ancient ruined hamlets where the water flows and gives the opportunity to stop for a refreshing bath in a unique setting. Back up to Blera not before casting a glance at its splendid private gardens.
STAGE 03
STAGE 03: Blera – Villa San Giovanni
Length: 2.9 or 5 km
Positive elevation gain: 103m
Estimated time: 0.45h
Maximum elevation: 335m
Difficulty Easy: possibility of panoramic variant
Final defaticating and bucolic STAGE. Of muscle recovery. Completely comfortable and mostly on white macco and asphalt. A very sweet return to everyday life. For the more adventurous there is also a scenic variant (3 km is added) that logically climbs and allows a view of the entire route
