STAGE 01: Lavis – Lisignago

STAGE 02: Lisignago – Segonzano

Length: 15.23 km

After leaving Lisignago, you cross the small gardens next to the fire station and, with caution, the SS 612. Along a road that is flat at first, then steadily descending through countryside and vineyards, you reach Maso Besleri. From here you go up to Cembra (the main town equipped with the main services), then, from the church of San Rocco, descend again between dry stone walls and vineyards to the Avisio stream, crossed on a suspended footbridge.

On the other bank rises the Pozzolago hydroelectric power plant. The ascent continues through woods and fields to Piazzole di Lona, with a chapel dedicated to San Giobbe. Carefully cross SP 71 and take a flat road in the direction of Segonzano. At the height of Sevignano, a climb leads to the upper part of the village, providing panoramic views of the valley.

Continue toward the Prada fields and the Pomara Valley, from which the Earth Pyramids of Segonzano can be spotted. Past Rio Regnana, the dirt road leads to the Pyramids Kiosk (open spring-summer; refreshment stand, stamps and info at the ticket office). Admission to the Pyramids is charged (3 euros) during the tourist season, but free for credentialed walkers.

A steep climb leads to a spectacular viewpoint over the Pyramids; briefly retracing one’s steps, on the level one reaches the Holy Trinity Church of Stedro, where the STAGE ends.

STAGE 03: Segonzano – Sover

Length: 15.48 km

From the church in Segonzano, continue on level ground to Trattoria Giacomozzi, then go up the village and turn left at the first fork. After 200 m on the flat, begin the climb to the Sanctuary of Madonna dell’Aiuto (Doss Venticia), with panoramic views west and east of the valley. Travel 400 m on asphalt, then take the path through the woods until you reach the place of worship.

From here, climb briefly into the woods and turn left at the fork. Cross an old building (unsafe, to be observed with caution) and, alternating downhill and uphill sections, reach Gaggio, a small settlement with a small church. Continue through the woods to the village of Secont Pian, from which there are picturesque views, then descend quickly to Valcava.

Past the small church and cemetery, continue to the Brusago stream. After a small rock gym, cross the stream and climb to Maso Bortolai (ruined). In case of a flood, from the village of Valcava follow the sign to the left to avoid the brook, cross SP71 carefully and, after the Boioni bridge, turn right to climb up to the Bortolai.

From the farm, continue toward Brusago. At the first fork, turn left along a path marked as private but open to passage, reaching Sveseri (hamlet of Sover). A 1.2-kilometer paved section leads to Montesover, the main hamlet with an imposing church and attached cemetery. Crossing the village, descend along the ancient “salesà” pavement toward Facendi, then back into the woods to Crosettina, a place dear to the locals. The last descent finally leads to Sover, with its church dedicated to San Lorenzo.

STAGE 04: Sover – Grumes

Length: 12.76 km

From Sover, with its church and historic sundials, the path winds north through forests, chestnut groves and the hamlet of Piscine. It descends to the Marigiat farmstead, a place rich in history and silence, and then continues to the Pianaci farmstead, a plateau perfect for a break among mowed meadows.

The Sentiero dei Vecchi Mestieri (Old Trades Trail) leads to the Avisio stream, with passages between ancient limestone, glimpses of overhanging rocks, and a safety lanyard for admiring the landscape. Passing iron ladders and the stream bed, you reach the La Rio bridge, crossing ancient artifacts such as mills and restored sawmills: Nones, Cristofori, and the “far” sawmill.

Finally, the route heads into Grauno, known for its carnival, and then up through the forest to Grumes, where the STAGE ends.

STAGE 05: Grumes – Lona

Length: 19.24 km

From Grumes, climb to the Church of Santa Lucia and the Masi di Grumes, passing Maso Giovanni and descending to Maso Pojeri. Through forests and forest roads you reach Le Bornie (Valda) for a short stop.

The walk continues through the woods to the Faorine stream and the “Molin de Portegnach” cultural center. From here you go up toward Faver, crossing countryside and the center of the village. Following the European Trail E5, you reach Segonzano Castle and continue to Piazzo and Parlo, alternating between mule tracks and roads.

After a short stretch on the provincial road, you reach Sevignano, known for its owl statues. Finally, the flat route leads to Casara and the destination of the STAGE: Lona.

STAGE 06: Lona – Lavis

Length: 16.37 km

The STAGE passes through forests, vineyards and villages, with beautiful views of the valley. It starts from the square in Lona and follows back roads and forest roads past the Palù Redont biotope and Lake Lases, where a stop is a must.

The route continues to Faver, crossing meadows and the historic center, then touching Segonzano Castle and continuing through mule tracks and villages such as Sevignano and Casara, to Lona.

Past Lona, you walk through country roads, woods and vineyards, reaching Vigo, with its chapels and views. Continue to Gazzadina and the church of Madonna di Caravaggio, finally following the SAT 472 trail to Lavis.

The last section gives a panoramic view of the Adige Valley and, through woods and steps, leads to the bridge over the Avisio stream, ending the walk in the center of Lavis.
