The Via FRANCIGENA is an extraordinarily important historical route that crosses Europe, connecting Canterbury to Rome and continuing to Santa Maria di Leuca. This 1,000-year-old route, recognized since 1994 as a Council of Europe Cultural Route, stretches 3,200 kilometers (1,500 miles) through England, France, Switzerland, Italy and the Vatican.
In Liguria, the Via Francigena offers pilgrims and hikers the opportunity to discover coastal landscapes and history-rich hinterland. The Ligurian section of the Camino is part of a larger route that combines history, culture and art, connecting peoples and ideas across 5 states, 16 regions and more than 600 municipalities.

Via Marialonga

The VIA MARIALONGA is a fascinating historical hiking trail that connects Fornovo Taro, in the province of Parma, to Sestri Levante, in the province of Genoa.
In 144 km, the Via Marialonga crosses the Apennines, touching 2 regions, 4 provinces and 15 municipalities, offering total immersion in landscapes of great environmental importance and ancient villages where time seems to stand still.
The Way, divided into 7 STAGES, is considered challenging but extremely rewarding. The Via Marialonga seeks to follow, where possible, the ancient historic roads, offering an authentic and adventurous experience. It is not a conventional tourist route, but rather one that requires a fair amount of experience and physical preparation.
Those who undertake the VIA MARIALONGA must, in fact, be prepared to face stretches that may appear poorly traveled, with sometimes essential signage. This aspect, however, contributes to the charm of the path, making it particularly appreciated by those seeking a wilder and less-traveled experience.

Cammino dei Ribelli

The Cammino dei Ribelli is a 130-km circular route that winds through the Val Borbera, a little-known area on the border between Piedmont, Liguria, Emilia and Lombardy.
This route, divided into 7 STAGES, offers a unique experience of slow tourism, allowing people to discover medieval, feudal and partisan histories in a natural setting of extraordinary beauty.
Conceived by Giacomo D’Alessandro, a Genoese walker and communicator, the Cammino dei Ribelli was born as a social project to enhance and revive a land that is depopulated but rich in potential. The Cammino passes through villages and wilderness, offering the opportunity to meet local communities and witness a rural, social and spiritual rebirth.
Along the Trail, walkers can admire the beautiful Borbera Narrows, explore beech and ancient chestnut groves, and visit stone-built farming villages.

Via del Sale

The Via del Sale is a historical Path that retraces the ancient trade routes used to transport salt from Ligurian ports to the hinterland.
Covering about 87 km, divided into 4 STAGEs, the Via del Sale connects Varzi to Portofino, passing through several regions: Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Piedmont and Liguria.
The route follows ancient mule tracks that for centuries played a crucial role in the salt trade, a valuable commodity essential for food preservation and animal husbandry.
Since 2017, the Region of Liguria has invested in improving and signaling the Ligurian section of the trail, making it more accessible and usable. Along the route, travelers can enjoy spectacular views, explore ancient villages and immerse themselves in the unspoiled nature of the Ligurian Apennines.

Tigullio Walk
Length: 65 km

Departure: Chiavari

The Cammino nel Tigullio, conceived in 2019 by a family from Zoagli, is a 65-km loop trail that offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes and experiences. Divided into 5 STAGES, it starts and ends in Chiavari, passing through some of the most striking places of the Riviera Ligure di Levante.
The path winds through mountain ridges that offer views of the Gulf of Tigullio, reaches the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Montallegro at 612 meters above sea level, and touches Manico del Lume, the highest peak in the Gulf at 812 meters.
Highlights of the Tigullio Trail include Mount Portofino, the Abbey of San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte, and the renowned coastal resorts of Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure, Rapallo, and Zoagli.
