Paths in Basilicata: complete list

Basilicata is a wild and unspoiled paradise. Here the paths wind through rugged and majestic mountain ranges, where every step tells a story of untamed nature and endurance. Gullies open like scars in the red earth, while perched villages seem to defy gravity, clinging to slopes that elude all logic of urbanization.

This land has a DNA made of adventure: brigands and shepherds walked here, farmers who built their dignity on the harshness of the land. From the Sassi of Matera, a UNESCO heritage site that tells millennia of history, to the hidden villages of the Pollino, to the wild expanses of the Metapontino, Basilicata offers walkers a wealth of unique landscapes, stories and Paths.

Grande Cammino dei BRIGANTI

Length: 500 km
Stages: 28 (35 if the traditional CAMMINO DEI BRIGANTI is included)
Departure: Sante Marie and Tagliacozzo
Arrival: Potenza

The Grande Cammino dei BRIGANTI is a route that winds through five regions in the heart of southern Italy-Abruzzo, Lazio, Molise, Campania and Basilicata.

Conceived by explorer Luca Gianotti, this 500-kilometer route retraces the legendary footsteps of General Borjes, including escapes, rebellions and forgotten stories.

Each STAGE tells the story of a different protagonist of brigandage. In 1861, these lands were swarming with rebels: 39 bands in Abruzzo, 42 on the Papal border, 15 in Molise, and as many as 47 in the hinterlands of Irpinia and Lucania.

A journey through time that brings to life the voices of a forgotten Italy, a tale of resistance and memory.
